Harmony in Ultraviolet brings a new selection of albums to the Dungeon ! With a few lines of commentary, these picks offer a glimpse into unique soundscapes and hidden gems, ready to be explored.
This is what I would call vaporwave with a punk’s edge. HIAFR’s straightforward, no-sugarcoating approach to distorted, loud drum and bass, while keeping the rest of the musical elements simple but brief, it does the job to keep me entertained. Reminds me of that Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s demo tape in a sense.
The sole owner of Bogus Collective enters the list with the third installment of Plantwave series. I talked with the artist about how this album is like the “Mother Earth’s Plantasia” of vaporwave, at least for me. I think for a sound collage type album; I find myself fully mesmerized until I didn’t realize the album was finished after 30 minutes in. Can make a mf stare at a vase of plant for a long time.
Another gem I found on Bogus Collective. Leaning towards more classic approach to vaporwave production and the common sounds of muzak, it’s a collection of sweet, dreamy, spacey tunes packed with the right vibes for an office-soft album.

When revisiting this album, I did not know that this artist took down all of their releases off Bandcamp. I have sampled a song on this album before. The reason why I like this album is not really because of the content therein, but more about the concept of “signalwave” and “broken transmission” in general. I find broken transmission music is probably one of the best approaches to put a factor of unknowability and mystery in music, and this album has become a source of inspiration for one of my albums.
