WRC: Seven Years Deep
There’s a certain kind of magic that happens when a bunch of strangers in a Discord server realize they actually like what each other is making. That’s how Wave Racers Collective started back in July 2018. Just a hub. A place for synth heads and vaporwave producers to hang out, share tracks, talk about aesthetics. Nothing fancy. By September of that same year, they had already pulled together Vol. I: The Grief Project. A multi-genre compilation. Messy in the best way. Then came Vol. II: Years Gone By in January 2019. The first proper solo release came in May 2019: forgotten kingdom by MDM and suddenly it wasn’t just a server anymore. It was a label. Over the years, Wave Racers Collective has put out music from some of the most respected names in the scene including Tupperwave, 猫 シ Corp., PUDERPOLLI, US Golf 95, and MindSpring Memories. That’s not even half of them. Legends, newcomers, and everyone in between. WRC gave them all a home.
280 releases and seven years later. What’s left to remember from one of the major labels in vaporwave and vapor-adjacent scenes? Now’s the time to dive into their catalog with us and rediscover some hidden gems.
forgotten kingdom by MDM
And how could we not talk about the very first album ever released on WRC? Even if it never became a cult classic, forgotten kingdom is a fascinating listen. You’ll probably recognize some of the samples and those are cult classics. Sitting somewhere between broken transmission vaporwave and future funk, it’s a subtle blend of calm and energetic tracks.

ショップ @ ヘルシンキ by 猫 シ Corp.
Wave Racers Collective isn’t just a netlabel. Far from it. They’ve always been deeply committed to physical media cassettes, minidiscs, vinyls even floppy disks. While plenty of vaporwave labels are happy to exist purely online, WRC went the other way. They pressed things. They packaged things. 猫 シ Corp. One of the biggest names in vaporwavetrusted WRC to release ショップ @ ヘルシンキ on cassette. When a legend trusts you with that, you know you’re doing something right.
A Blue Sky Memorial by ▲STR▲L TRI▲NGLEISM
When I think of WRC, I think of M00NofS0rr0W. Not just because his own album Hey Blinky! dropped there. But because thanks to him, I found A Blue Sky Memorial by ▲STR▲L TRI▲NGLEISM and bought the tape directly from WRC. That album sits perfectly between vaporwave and shoegaze. Gorgeous stuff. If you haven’t heard it, go listen now.

VHC-48009-1 by Diskette Park
I need to talk about what I genuinely believe is one of the greatest signalwave albums of all time. VHC-48009-1. This thing is all over the place in the best way. It’s varied, it’s weird, it sounds like an old 70s or 80s sci-fi movie that never actually existed. And the track PCM-F1 ? Pure velvet. Unbelievably smooth. Just trust me on this one.
あなたにはもっと良い価値がある by u v . e x e
Beyond the big names, WRC has always been about discovery. And my personal favorite find? u v . e x e. Just look at those album covers ethereal, floating, beautiful. The music inside is delicate, luminous, soft as morning light. If you’re curious, do yourself a favor and check out another album from them :ロックオン. I know u v . e x e is a well-respected name in slushwave now. But at the time? Fresh face. Brand new. WRC gave them a platform before they blew up. That’s the beauty of this label.

Memory Eternal VI by 회사AUTO
Let’s talk about one of the most heartbreaking stories vaporwave has ever known. 회사AUTO. Twelve albums. Not for fame, not for money just to celebrate life. To celebrate music. To celebrate hope. He was fighting an almost incurable illness, and music became his therapy. His way of saying ‘I’m still here. I still love this.’ He kept producing until the end. And VI? That’s the one that hits me hardest. 80s pop melodies, layers of warm synthwave, and just this unshakable feeling of someone pouring their heart out. A solid album. A beautiful one.
anniversary VII by Wave Racers Collective
Now, don’t take my word as the final say. This is just what stuck with me. Wave Racers Collective has so much more hiding in their catalog. And here’s the perfect excuse to dive in yourself for their seventh anniversary, they just released a brand new retrospective compilation covering 2025 to 2026. That’s a great starting point. But honestly? Go listen to all their past compilations too. Get the full picture. And if you’re really curious go listen to the person who started it all : Saint Vayu .

Thank you to Wave Racers Collective for the last seven years. And I truly hope to see them keep going for at least seven more. To celebrate their anniversary, you can use the code: “anniversary” for 20% off everything in the store until June.

Before we wrap up, I want to say this: thank you to everyone who’s been showing love for VaporLoot lately. It means a lot. Just to be transparent: this article isn’t commissioned. I just genuinely love Wave Racers Collective, and I’ve been wanting to shout them out for a while. Their seventh anniversary seemed like the right time. See you soon for more music !
