It’s hard to remember the first time I spoke to M00NofS0rr0W, in any case, one thing is certain : a few years later, we still keep in touch regularly. There was no particular agreement between us, but a kind of ritual naturally established itself that of sharing each other’s work and offering unconditional support. Maybe it’s a form of European solidarity ? If you don’t know M00NofS0rr0W, it is with great pleasure that I introduce him to you. Possessing extreme kindness, this member of Children of Vapor is, for me, one of the most interesting artists on the current scene. I recommend listening to the albums Peace Of Mind ~ A Tale Of Hope and ▲ to grasp the full extent of his talent. I’m very happy to see him putting out more and more physical releases (my wallet, not so much, ahah). And I’m very honored to welcome him for this article !

MUM-B1 – ◭PEGA§II ± DOĞĜE AM◭
I would like to start with the album that actually introduced me to vaporwave. I think that’s very fitting. But first some info about the artist: MUM-B1 is one of the many aliases of General Mumble who produces a wide range of music, for example dubstep, drum & bass, synthpop, electronic rock and dark ambient. So ◭PEGA§II ± DOĞĜE AM◭ is a fun, varied and wild ride with great mashups of songs you wouldn’t expect. If you’re looking for a good time, this album is an excellent choice.
Shinatama – The Unified Consciousness
The next artist is Shinatama, who is probably even better known as Iona Dream. He was among the first artists I discovered when I was new to the vaporwave genre and exploring it. The Unified Consciousness was the first album of his that I listened to and I was thrilled afterwards! Wonderfully crafted melodies meet creative sound patterns and some well measured vocaloid vocals. The result is an aetheral sound that is equally relaxing, calming and uplifting. That’s why I often listened to the album after work. Sadly he deleted his Bandcamp aswell as other music and social media accounts some years ago. Wherever he is, I hope he is well and enjoying his life.
II 千 II – 時間逆行
This album is a special one for me. It has a very strong atmosphere filled with lush melodies that make you feel like you are dreaming. Playfully interwoven sounds and the variety of tracks create a cohesive album somewhere between a japanese school RPG and slowed down pop. If you need something to drift away to, give this album a try.
Mindspring Memories – The Binary Ocean
When it comes to slushwave and the build up of longer tracks Mindspring Memories is definitely an inspiration for me. The Binary Ocean in particular blew me away when I first listened to it! It’s a relaxing journey where you can lose the sense of space and time very easily. A variety of tracks from dreamy and calming to eatheral and uplifting, where among everything, the guitar is as important as the saxophone, create an album that is a very special listening experience. The epic final track is something that you shouldn’t miss!
Nieboszczka Kasia – Sny Topielca
Last but not least Sny Topielca which is one of the inspirations for Peace Of Mind ~ A Tale Of Hope. This dark ambient / drone album is an experience on it’s own! At first the hypnotic drones and the carefully crafted loops lull you in, while you slowly start to drown in the soundscapes that unfold. If you listen closely, you will notice subtle changes and pace shifts in many tracks and thus the incredible attention to detail with which they were created. The atmosphere is thick as fog and reminiscent of Silent Hill and Eraserhead, while the mood alternates between ominous, eerie, even deeply unsettling moments and calm, beautiful, even meditative moments. In the end, Sny Topielca always leaves me sober and calm, but with a slight feeling of sadness.
