Incoming Transmission from Space : Roge Corp’s Favorites Are Here ! šŸ‘½

This week’s albums entering the dungeon have been handpicked by Roge Corp ! As one-half of VaporVA, a collective organizing vaporwave events in Virginia ( they just announced the Lineup of the i2K Electronic Music Festival happening in June ! ) and the famous URL Roge Fest they bring a deep passion for the scene. Let’s dive into four of their favorite albums and explore the sounds that shaped them !

  1. Dream Girl by Frez Wave
Frez Wave’s 2022 release ā€œDream Girlā€ pulls from a unique pool of influences. Being influenced by lofi house artists such as Cult Member and Bakground, classic vaporwave artists such as vcr-classique and 18 Carat Affair, and older video game music from the PS2 and Nintendo DS era, Frez Wave has a very unique signature sound, in which he doubles down on with Dream Girl. There are tracks that can be played in the club as well as tracks with a low key vibe that’s perfect for a chill summer day, and the best part is they all flow together very nicely. If you enjoy Dream Girl, Frez Wave has many other releases that fit all these vibes so well.
  2. Distorted Reality by Heaven Sample
My good friend Heaven Sample (fka ProxXxy) recently releases his debut album via PLUS100 Records. Being influenced by artists such as Black Moth Super Rainbow, Frou Frou, Ivy and Nine Inch Nails, Heaven Sample finds himself doubling down on the hypnoganic pop genre with a heavy 90s/00s vibe. Clocking in at around 30 minutes, his album has massive and colorful soundscapes that takes me back to a beautiful summer day from that era and execute’s that feeling of nostalgia very well.
  3. Wisteria by incndscnt
Incndscnt released his debut album ā€œWisteriaā€ back in 2015. This album doubles down on a very atmospheric chillwave sound with some vaporwave and chillsynth influences. Clocking in at just under 45 minutes, Wisteria keeps the vibe of making you feel like you’re drifting in outer space with these massive atmospheric vibes to the point where it has gotten me a little bit emotional at times. What’s even crazier is that he was only 16 when he made this album and proving right off the bat his capability of making a hard hitting yet emotional album with a massive sound.
  4. Holy Spirit Soundtrack by V4NGOE
Being one of my closest friends, it’s been really cool to see him grow as an artist between his 2022 album ā€œLosers Landslideā€ to the present day. Clocking in at just under 30 minutes keeping it short and sweet, this album sounds as cool, lush and beautiful as the album cover looks, setting the tone of this project. V4NGOE dabbles with some classic vapor, slushwave, and even future funk while sticking to his signature vaporwave zero sounds with jungle, DnB, and plunderphonics, taking you on an adventure of a lifetime. He has proven himself to be one of the most talented people I know and it just makes me excited for whatever he does next.
